Advanced superconducting tapes for high voltage fault current limiters

2018
Superconducting fault current limiters based on high temperature superconducting coated conductors are novel devices which enables further development of the electricity network. In this contribution analyse properties of advanced superconducting tapes with modified architecture to withstand higher electric fields and thus higher heat generation during limiting period. We have shown that additional heat capacity layer, made of hasteloy, reduces maximum temperature of superconductor despite of enhanced heat generation resulting from lower resistance of the modified tape.
