100Anni delle Settimane sociali. Il bene comune oggi : un impegno che viene da lontano

2008
Extensive information and appraisal is given in this article about the 45th Italian Catholic Social Week (Pistoia-Pisa, October 18th-21st, 2007), centred on the subject A century of Social Weeks. The common good today: an engagement that comes from afar, at the presence of more than 1,113 delegates representing 160 Italian dioceses. Italian Catholics have deepened the responsibility of citizens and, therefore, of active subjects for building a society with a good face and a big heart. The category of common good is not simply one of the many initiatives to be promoted, but is paramount in gluing all them together, and giving them an intrinsic meaning. There is a need for finding ways and means of comparison and meeting, so as to give testimony of the Gospel at a social and political level, in tune with the directions of the Church's social doctrine.
