DURABILITE DES BETONS LEGERS A BASE DE COPEAUX DE BOIS

2007
The use of wood shavings in lightweight concrete would be interesting for the recycling of this industrial subproduct. In France, the destruction of the pineforest in the south-west have re-actualised this domain of research. This study is carried out with Senegal, which is interested in the re-use of waste wood. In the first part, we have determined the optimal compositions of these composite concretes. We observed that the cement matrix - wood shavings bonding could be ameliorated by a water saturation treatment. In the second part, a treatment based on saturation with a sodium silicate solution have been tested in order to obtain a better matrix-wood bonding. Microstructural observations and mechanical behaviour are displayed. The last part concerns the first fire tests that are showing good results for a use of these lightweight concretes as f1re insulation materials.
