Performance Evaluation for Maritime Data Communication - LF band Radio Wave

2017
The latest maritime data communication system consists of satellite-based and grand-based system. The former uses micro wave for off shore communication or broadcasting, and the latter uses VHF or LF band radio wave for coastal communication or broadcasting. According to authors’ precedence studies, onboard data acquisition such as signal and noise levels, and/or reception rate were executed to discuss the performance of data communication and propose the stable and valid provision for LF and MF band radio wave. In this paper, it is concluded that high performance of LF and MF band radio waves’ propagation should be essential for coastal navigation to keep safety and efficiency. It is meaningful for the future operation and the effective utilization about radio wave that the relationship with the configuration of stations and the characteristic of huge offshore structure will become to be clear. Furthermore it would be expected to improve the communication capability, and it should be contribute to safe and efficient navigation.
