Isolation, characterization, and hepatoprotective activities of terpenes from the gum resin of Boswellia carterii Birdw

2018
Abstract Three new tirucallane-type triterpenes named boscartene L–N ( 1 – 3 ) and three known compounds ( 4 – 6 ) were isolated from the gum resin of Boswellia carterii Birdw. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The absolute configuration of 1 was resolved using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The hepatoprotective activities of the isolated compounds were evaluated in vitro . At a concentration of 10 μM, compounds 1 and 3 – 5 showed moderate hepatoprotective activities against d -galactosamine-induced HL-7702 cell damage.
