Influence of Protein Volume on Subcellular Localization

2013
Information of subcellular location of protein is important for in-depth studies on its cellular functions. Two volume calculation procedures,Helix Systems and Vor procedure were used to study the influence of the protein volume on the subcellular localization. It was found that proteins located outside the cell were obviously smaller than that located in the nucleus, membrane and cytoplasm. Results of this study confirmed that the volume parameter was effective to differentiate the subcellular location of proteins.
