Adaptive Blood Pressure Control

1990
Abstract The focus in this paper is blood - pressure control. The control input is the rate of injected sodium nitroprusside (SNP). The relationship between the control input and the blood pressure is highly non-linear and it has a significant time delay. We have developed an adaptive predictive control algorithm which is implemented in a real-time computer system. The system model is of 1st order in addition to a bias term . Clinical testing of 40 patients shOl' good results. The controller is reliable and its performance is superior to the conventional way of controlling blood pressure.
