EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS REAGARDING THE EFFECTS OF BISPHENOL A IN ADULT MICE SPERMATOGENESIS

2011
Summary Experimental investigations showed that bisphenol A (BPA) affects the male reproductive tract. The male hormones level, androg ens receptors, male reproductive organs, the testes, the epididymis, the seminal vesicles, t he prostate and sperm production are affected by this substance. The objective of this s tudy is to present the effects of bisphenol administration upon spermatogenesis at mice. Due t o the fact that during BPA action are involved also free radicals, in this study we also have been administrate vitamin C to neutralize the effect of those free radicals. The m acroscopic control of the seminiferous tubules has not showed a modification of spermatogenesis at treated animals. The diameter of seminiferous tubules and the depth of the seminifer ous epithelium were not influenced by BPA administration. The only modification observed was the presence of areas with severe degeneration of the seminiferous tubules structure when vitamin C was added to BPA
