Two convenient methods for the generation of methylene Meldrum's acid for Diels-Alder reactions

Abstract The transient isopropylidene methylenemalonate can be easily generated by treating either Meldrum's acid or diisopropylidene methylenedimalonate with formaldehyde, and trapped by reactive dienes.
