Meeting report for "OddPols" 2014: The odds invite an even

abstract Available online 31 October 2014 The Ninth International Biennial Conference on RNA Polymerases I and III (the “OddPols”) was held on June19–21, 2014 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Sponsored by New England Biolabs, the CaymanChemicalCompany,theRackhamGraduateSchoolandtheUniversityofMichiganHealthSystem,andorganizedby David Engelke, Craig Pikaard, Lawrence Rothblum,Andrzej Wierzbickiand Astrid Engel. This yearat the con-ference, the “odds” were increased by expanding the usual topics on the advances in RNA polymerases I and IIIresearch to include presentations on RNA polymerase IV and V. The keynote speaker, Craig Pikaard, openedthe meeting with his presentation entitled “Five nuclear multisubunit RNA polymerases”. The meeting drew at-tendeesfromfourteencountriesthatsharedtheirresearchdiscoveriesthroughoralandposterpresentations.Thetalkswereorganizedinto11sessionscoveringsevendistincttopics.Herewepresentsomeofthehighlightsfromthe meeting using summaries provided by the participants.© 2014 Elsevier B.V.
