Development of a novel fluorescent probe for Zn2+/Cu2+/S2- in different solutions based on benzocoumarin derivative

Abstract 2’-hydroxynaphthalene-1’-methylidene-5,6-benzocoumarin-3-imine (L) has been developed as a novel multifunctional fluorescent probe based on benzocoumarin derivative for the detection of Zn2+, Cu2+ and S2-. The fluorescence of L enhanced after adding Zn2+ in acetonitrile while the fluorescence quenched with the addition of Cu2+ in ethanol/water solution (9/1, V/V). Surprisingly, fluorescence recovery was appeared after adding S2- to L-Cu2+.
