The bachelor thesis describes the historical development of the town of Rakovnik from its oldest history until the first Saxon invasion of 1631. It primarily emphasises the period of the Thirty Years' War, 1618-1631, analysing the town's political position during the insurrection of the estates and the subsequent Battle of Rakovnik. The thesis also describes the town's worsening economic situation caused by its large debt and frequent passing of armies, resulting in economic and social decline. There is also a discussion of the recatholisation of the originally Protestant royal town of Rakovnik and its administration.
