The Use of Cyclic Phosphazene Additives to Enhance the Performance of the Head/Disk Interface | NIST

1999
Phase separation of phosphazene additives in PFPAE lubricants is investigated as a function of additive concentration and lubricant-layer thickness. The tribological behavior of various phosphazene additive/lubricant mixtures is evaluated using start/stop and constant-speed drag testing. Near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) is applied to investigate the presence of unsaturated carbon bonds at interfaces lubricated with Z-DOLG and Z-DOL/additives mixtures.
