Power supply sources for smart textiles

Abstract: This chapter begins with a brief review of a number of portable power sources such as polymer batteries, and photovoltaic, thermoelectric and piezoelectric devices. It then discusses their suitability for smart textile applications and the prospects of developing them into a fully wearable power sources. These power sources are capable of self-recharging through energy harvesting from body heat, movement and surrounding light.
