Tracking and pointing techniques used to ATP system for space optical communication

In space optical communication, in order to realize exact acquisition and high-accuracy tracking, combined axis control technique is applied in ATP(Acquisition, Tracking , and Pointing) system. The main control of combined axis control system is coarse tracking control. The system is composed of a speed loop and a position loop and the control process is carried out by high- performance DSP chip TMS320VC5416. Simulation and experimental results show that the tracking accuracy of the main axis control system is not bigger than 1 angle minute and this fulfills the demands of ATP system.
