Effect of Annealing Heat Treatment on Microstructures and Properties of AZ31B Magnesium Alloy Sheets

The microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ31B magnesium alloy sheets were studied upon annealing heat treatment at different temperature and for different time.The results show that the tensile strength of annealed alloy descended lightly,while the tensile elongation increased.The refine grain of alloy obtained with an ave-rage size about 3-5 μm by annealing at 250 ℃ for 30 min which leads the general properties of the alloy further increase.Annealing heat treatment has little impact on mechanical anisotropy of AZ31B magnesium alloy sheets.
