Studies on the chemical constituents from seeds of Caesalpinia minax Hance

2008
Objective:To investigate the constituents from seeds of Caesalpinia minax Hance systematically.Meth- ods:The compounds have been separated and purified by silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 gel column chromatogra- phy as well as the preparative TLC method. Results:Nine compounds were isolated from the seeds of Caesalpinia mi- nax.On the basis of the spectral data, their structures were identified as norcaesalnin E(compound 1),caesalmin C (compound 2),5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde(compound 3),daucosterol(compound 4),sucrose(compound 5),β-sitosterol(compound 6),stearic acid(compound 7),caffeic acid n-octadecyl ester(compound 8),2,5-di- hydroxy benzoic acid ethyl ester(compound 9),and compound 2 exhibited modest activity against fluenza virus. Conclusion:All compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time except compound 2.
