A compression ignition engine
2014
Compression ignition engine which can be operated in a low temperature combustion mode, wherein the engine comprises: a plurality of cylinders, each defining a combustion chamber, wherein the engine is designed for feeding and mixing of air and fuel in each combustion chamber, wherein the mixture has a stoichiometric or is nearly stoichiometric mixture; a control means comprising a sensor for measuring the engine load; a source of gas, comprising oxygen and is coupled to the control means, wherein, in response to the fact that the sensor measures a transition to a high engine load, the control means is adapted to gas before or simultaneously discharge with an increase of the fuel to each combustion chamber.
