Computerized Behavioral Assessment

Behavioral assessment is a methodology characterized by direct or indirect observation of low-level (i.e., minimally inferential) phenomena by either a participant or observer. It is distinguished from other forms of assessment in that behavior is considered a function of proximal and distal antecedents and consequences, the modification of which should lead to changes in the frequency, duration, or magnitude of a selected behavior. As such, behavioral assessment is a critical component of behavior therapy as both an assessment and monitoring tool to gauge the effects of an intervention on behavior and the variables hypothesized to control behavior (Haynes & O'Brien, 2000).
