The Susceptibility of Bacteroides Fragilis to Spectinomycin

Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) of spectinomycin were determined for 90 clinical isolates of Bacteiroides fragilis Only 10% of strains tested were resistant to more than 80 ug/ml of speetinomycin. There was a marked diminution of activity in acid media and the concentration of carbon dioxide in the anaerobic atmosphere also affected the MICs.
