Multi-beam load balancing scheme based on minimizing maximum transmission time for space information network

2017
In space information network (SIN), Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites or aircrafts need to communicate with Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellites. However, due to the non-uniform distribution of traffic in SIN, the load of each beam is different, thus the heavier loaded beams may increase the traffic transmission time. In order to reduce the transmission time, a multi-beam load balancing scheme based on minimizing maximum transmission time is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm reduces the maximum transmission time as well as the average transmission time under the condition of load balancing through beam selection and channel allocation. Theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
