A&WMA's Student Chapter Awards recognize outstanding achievement by a student chapter. The 2007-2008 winners were announced at the Honors & Awards Luncheon held during the 101st Annual Conference & Exhibition in Portland, OR.

The ECi is a team competition in which students from all levels—including undergraduates, master’s, and Ph.D. candidates—presented a solution to an environmental challenge based on the experiences of A&WMA members. In responding to the challenge, entrants considered regulatory approaches, political and community issues, as well as technical and scientific solutions. The First Annual ECi Competition instituted by Steve Rybolt, the Student Program Committee Chair for A&WMA’s 101st Annual Conference & Exhibition in Portland, OR, proved to be a tremendous success.
