A Compact Self-Power Module Based on Electromagnetic Energy Harvester and Voltage Multiplier

A compact self-power module is proposed in this paper with the tubular integration of electromagnetic vibration energy harvester and voltage multiplier. The electromagnetic energy harvester is constructed with dual planar springs and cylindrical magnets. The optimal location and size of the coils are investigated. A single-stage voltage multiplier is used to rectifier and boost the harvested AC voltage, which is also followed by a LDO stage to further stabilize the output. The volume of the electromagnetic vibration energy harvester is 8 cm3. The maximum output power is 19.1mW when the acceleration is 0.7 g and the resonance frequency is 116 Hz. The designed self-power module is able to provide stable voltage and sufficient power for the wireless temperature and humidity sensor.
