Cycle like a Dutch

The Introcuction Programme 2012 welcomes about 1000 new international students who follow an obligatory programme. Throughout a week of project work students make an acculturation plan and get familiarized with the Delft study method and working in multicultural groups. As a group we identified that biking is an important part of Dutch culture. In order to successfully acculturate, therefore, it is essential to learn about biking in The Netherlands. By means of a discussion and a survey we discovered three key issues international students have pertaining to biking in The Netherlands. The issues are as follows: using your bike (rules and regulations), fixing your bike and pimping your bike (painting and accessorizing). In order to address these key issues we planned a survival activity entitled: Cycle like a Dutch.
