Restaurierung eines Römischen Lederhelmes mit Ohrschutz

1988
An account on the restoration of a Roman leather helmet in the collection of the Museum of Antiquities in West Berlin. The helmet was possibly made in the fourth century BC. The place of origin is not known: analogies of the object, however, are known from North Africa. The leather is identified as that of a crocodile. The author gives a technological reconstruction of the production of the helmet. Restoration of the object started in 1985 at the Ethnographic Museum. The helmet and the ear protectors were restored separately. -- AATA
