Samband mellan ordinlärning, ansträngning och fonologiskt minne: en studie av galvanisk hudrespons

The aim of this study was to examine the correlation between word learning, effort and phonological memory. Twenty college students learned words in Latin through a slideshow. Effort was measured during baseline, word learning and word test, via two values of galvanic skin response: global mean value and numbers of peaks per minute. Phonological memory was measured by repetition of digits and nonwords. An increase in effort was detected between baseline, word learning and word test, except for peaks per minute between word learning and word test. Correlation was not detected for the outcome of word test with the increase in effort from rest to activity, nor with the effort during word learning or word test. Measured effort did not correlate with estimated effort, nor with phonological memory. Further research, with larger study groups, is required to understand the underlying cognitive and psychophysiological mechanisms in novel word learning among adults.
