A New Energy-Saving Technique for Multiple-Induction Motor-Based Drive Heads at Mines Under Light-Load Conditions

2021
This paper presents a new energy-saving scheme and improved power factor for drive heads at mines under light-load conditions employing AC voltage controllers. The proposed voltage control scheme is operated along with the dynamic loading control (DLC) for multiple-induction motor drive-based belt conveyor system. Under light-load conditions, the proposed voltage control is applied to the single induction machine instead of applying multiple-induction machines. A systematic analysis has been developed for the operation of multiple-induction motor-based drive heads by considering the varying loads as a function of the load power, stator voltage, and angle of set in the AC voltage controller. The performance of the proposed voltage control strategy for single induction motor in a belt conveyor system has been validated using MATLAB programming. The predicted results show that the improvement in energy-saving and power factor for the drive heads.
