A Dynamic Test of Seeder Performance Based on Imaging Techniques

This paper discusses a new multi-seeder dynamic testing technology that makes it possible to accurately and reliably measure seed space intervals using image processing and analysis techniques. We also discuss the development of a universal test-bed designed to test the performance of precision seeders and grain drills along with the simultaneous capture of seed distributions from the three seeding monomers. A dynamic test of a precision seeder at step-less speed (0.5m/s-3m/s)was developed, then a new image processing and analysis technique used to examine the precision of the seeders and the accuracy of the procedure. Based on the independent capture of three primary channels in the images, it was possible to simultaneously capture real time images from three-seeder seeding. Finally, the series of images were joined together using an new image matching technique (based on markers on the test bed belt), with an error in seed interval of ±2 mm. Application of this new technique with existing software has the potential to replace conventional measurement methods and promises expanded use in the future.
