Analysis and design of the invisible radome by LLumar glass

An invisible radome is presented and realized by using an unprecedented technique, which is transparent at the operating frequency and is invisible at frequencies ranging from 4.5 to 12.5 GHz. In order to prevent undesired reflection of the incoming power, ultra-thin wideband metamaterial absorbers loaded with LLumar glass are employed for the first time, which can avoid the need for the complex and unstable manufacture of resistive surfaces. Convoluted crossed slot arrays are utilized so as to obtain the pass-band at the frequency 2 GHz in a limited unit cell. Furthermore, the experimental prototype is manufactured and measured. From the results obtained by both numerical simulations and measurements, the properties of the radome are verified.
