Good heavens what animal can pollinate it? A fungus‐like holoparasitic plant potentially pollinated by opossums

: The most effective pollinator principle developed by Stebbins (1970) postulates that floral traits are shaped through natural selection by the most frequent and effective floral visitors. Following this rationale, pollination syndrome hypothesis assumes that floral morphology is a result of convergent evolution of unrelated plant species to specific pollinator groups (Faegri and van der Pijl 1979). In this sense, floral traits such as visual and olfactory cues, reward properties, as well as the floral architecture, can be useful to predict the pollinator group of a given plant species.
