Global Situation of Developing ANAMMOX Technology towards Engineering Application

The engineering application of anaerobic ammonia oxidation(ANAMMOX) technology is difficultly realized due to the very slow growth rate of ANAMMOX bacteria.Based on the Dutch experiences of full-scale engineered ANAMMOX reactors,the progress and major obstacles in ANAMMOX engineering application were introduced,and the present status of research,development and engineering application of the ANAMMOX technology in some European countries taking the Netherlands as representative was overviewed.Finally,an outlook of the ANAMMOX technology is addressed.
