3D Image Processing and Monitoring

2012
This chapter examines everything about 3D image processing and monitoring, from identifying 3D image defaults (IOD, convergence, vertical alignment, keystones, rotation, focal length, focus mismatch, desynchronized stereo, rolling shutter orientation errors, half-mirror and other errors) to monitoring tools (consumer and professional 3D displays, 3D multiplexers and image processors). It explains stereoscopic image analysis, from state-of-the-art advances to practical applications: computer-aided monitoring, disparity vectors and tags, comparative 2D analysis, optical axis alignment, Z-LUT generation, real-time rig control and motion control. Future applications and the limits of image analysis and stereoscopic image geometry correction are discussed, as well as existing and upcoming gear.
