Remote Sensing Estimation NEP in China Using Improved CASA and GSMSR Model

2021
Net ecosystem productivity (NEP) estimation plays an important role in understanding ecosystem function and the global carbon cycle. In this paper, the NPP was estimated by using an improved CASA model, and then the NEP was calculated by using the GSMSR and the soil respiration - soil heterotrophic respiration relationship model. Based on the above products, the spatial and temporal distribution of NEP in China in 2010 was analyzed. The results show that: (1) The NPP value in 2010 of China shows the distribution pattern of southern region > northern region > Qinghai-Tibet region > northwestern region. Due to good hydrothermal conditions, the vegetation in the southern region grows vigorously and has the highest NPP value; (2) The NEP in 2010 of China was generally high in summer and low in winter and shown the pattern of southern region > northern region > Qinghai-Tibet region > northwestern region generally. Among them, the southern region is overall a carbon sink throughout the year, the northern region is a carbon sink in summer, and the northwest region and the Qinghai-Tibet region are carbon sources in winter and spring generally. The research can not only deepen the understanding of the distribution of carbon sources/sinks in China; but also provide a reference for regional carbon cycle research.
