Design of Dumbbell-Shaped MIMO Antenna for Wearable Applications

2021
A wearable textile wideband multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) antenna for wireless communication with low mutual coupling and better isolation is presented in this paper. This design consists of three rectangular copper patches on the front side and dumbbell-shaped stub on the ground which gives high port-to-port isolation and operated in the frequency spectrum from 2 to 8 GHz with a maximum gain of 6.5 dB. The minimum isolation is 38.55 dB at 4.32 GHz and 60.4791 dB is maximum isolation achieved at 4.8 GHz. The envelope correlation coefficient and diversity gain of the MIMO antenna are given by 0.001729 and 10 dB, respectively, which are operated in c-band which is used for many satellite communication transmissions, some Wi-Fi devices as well as surveillance and weather radar systems. This modern epoch demands low power and high data requirements so that designing of a MIMO antenna becomes essential.
