Angle-sensitive Metasurface with Expanded Deflection Range for Continuous Illumination Angles

2019
An angle-sensitive metasurface is proposed to deflect the electromagnetic waves from continuous illumination angles. The unit-cells of this metasurface are designed to have tilted structures, which make their phase response sensitive to different incident angles. Unit-cells with both local angular phase dispersion and required spatial phase shifts are carefully arranged to constitute the metasurface. The simulation results demonstrate that the transverse electric wave incident the metasurface within a symmetric angle range of ±45° can be deflected to an expanded range of ±60° at 10 GHz.
