Para una crítica de lo indio como categoría

espanolEn este articulo se ensaya, como modo de organizar el desbordante material empirico que involucra, y de superar la cacofonia ideologica que le rodea, un analisis de la estructura logico-material de la categoria de «indio», tal y como fue empleada por los movimientos indigenistas del siglo XX y en el debate contemporaneo. Se sostiene que su indole oblicua y el proceso de su conformacion historica cancelan la posibilidad de hablar legitimamente de una oposicion dualista entre indio/no indio, y que los planes y programas politicos y culturales inspirados en dicha falsa concepcion resultan en la corrupcion de las naciones hispanicas en que se implantan. EnglishIn this article it is tested, as a way of organizing the overflowing phenomenic material it is involved with, as well as an effort to get over with the ideological cacophony surrounding it, an analysis of the logical structure of the category of «indio» [indian] as used by XXth century indigenist movements, and as it is currently treated in contemporary debates. Its central claim holds that the oblique nature of the concept, together with the process of its historical configuration cancel out the very possibility of legitimately speaking of a dualistic opposition between indio/no-indio [indian/non-indian], and that both the cultural and political plans and programs inspired in such a false and misunderstood conception result in the corruption of the Hispanic nations in which they are implanted.
