Nanocarbon material-filled cementitious composites for construction applications

2019
Abstract A nanocarbon material (NCM)-filled cementitious composite (NCMFCC) refers to the structural material of which various properties can be improved with the addition of such NCMs as carbon nanotubes, carbon nanofibers, graphene, and nanocarbon black. Compared with traditional structural materials that are quasibrittle and easy to crack, NCMFCC is advantageous in its remarkable mechanical behaviors and good durability. Moreover, NCMFCC possesses excellent electrical and self-sensing properties and prominent functional performances. This chapter includes the structural application of NCMFCC while systematically introducing its fabrication methods (especially the dispersion of NCM), mechanical properties, functional or smart properties, and structural application cases. The future challenges of NCMFCC are also discussed.
