The invention relates to a biphenolic ether compound modified phenolic aldehyde foaming material and a preparation method thereof, relating to a foaming material and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: firstly, preparation of biphenolic ether compound modified phenolic aldehyde resin including the following two reaction stages: reaction stage I: leading a biphenolic ether compound and phenol to generate exchange reaction to generate an aryl ether compound with two phenol rings; reaction stage II: enabling the aryl ether compound generated in the reaction stage I to react with formaldehyde under alkaline condition to generate modified phenolic resin; after modifying phenol with the biphenolic ether compound, reacting with formaldehyde under the alkaline condition to generate thermosetting modified phenolic resin, and then preparing the foaming material according to the proportion. A new thermosetting modified phenolic resin is generated under the alkaline condition, the toughness of the prepared phenolic foam is greatly improved, and the comprehensive performances of carbon residual rate, thermolysis peak value and temperature and the like of the phenolic foam can be improved.
