Shear modulus and damping of natural sands

The dynamic properties of natural sands were investigated at small to high shear strains (10 6–10 3) using a resonant-column apparatus. Clean sands and sands with fines, with and without gravel were used for the tests. The influence of physical properties, fines content and strain level on the shear modulus and damping ratio are investigated and discussed in the paper.
