A Reinforced Earth Solution for Marine Structures

1988
Reinforced Earth has been widely adopted for transportation and civil engineering structures. In river and marine projects it can also offer the same potential, however, it is not practical to construct underwater using the standard technology. A new technique was developed in the Asian/Pacific region that retains the technical advantages of Reinforced Earth while addressing the practical needs of marine construction. Following successful completion of a prototype structure in Honiara, a number of proposals have been prepared which confirm the potential of the technique.
