Effects of the Three Gorges Project on orange plantation, environments and socio-economic conditions in the backwater area of Xiangxi River

The construction of the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River has an extensive impact on agricultural structures in the backwater areas of the Yangtze River and its tributaries such as the Xiangxi River. In the backwater area of the Xiangxi River, orange plantation is the dominant land use and a very important source of income for the local population, since it was established in the later 1980’s decade.
