2020
A study was conducted to investigate the extent of use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by the young entrepreneurs in farm management. The study was conducted during 2018 in four randomly selected villages of Trishal and Fulbariaupazila under Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. Considering the other parts of the country, young fish and poultry entrepreneurs were more prominent in Trishal and Fulbaria region of Bangladesh. There were about 300 fish and 560 poultry entrepreneurs in the study area. Among the young entrepreneurs, a total of 90 respondents (31 fish and 59 poultry entrepreneurs) were randomly selected as respondents for the study. The extent of usage of ICTs by the young entrepreneurs was measured by a four point rating scale. Correlation test was deployed to ascertain the relationships between the selected variables of the young entrepreneurs with their extent of usage of ICTs. The results revealed that about two-third (64.44%) of the entrepreneurs were moderate users of ICTs while 34.44 percent of them were high users, and only 1.12 percent was low users. Entrepreneurs’ characteristics such as organizational participation and extension media contact had a positive and significant relationship with the extent of use of ICTs, while household size and annual income had a negativeand significant relationship with their extent of use of ICTs. So, the study implies that the young entrepreneurs can be motivated further with appropriate deployment of extension techniques including use of ICTs for improving farm management and thereby sustainable agriculture in the study area.
