Development non-contact gripper with flowrate-amplification using Coanda ejector

2021
Abstract The energy-saving mechanism for the gas consumption of a non-contact gripper with flowrate-amplification using Coanda ejector is proposed to solve the problems of excessive power consumption and an insufficient lifting force in non-contact grippers. The mechanism of the proposed non-contact gripper is derived using pressure differences to generate the lifting force, and the energy-saving principle is described in detail. The effects of the supply gas flow rate and the gap height on the adsorption capacity of the non-contact gripper are studied experimentally. Finally, comparing the proposed non-contact gripper with traditional approaches indicates that the lifting force is 15–20% higher under the same supply gas flow rate. This research provides new ideas for research on non-contact grippers and provides theoretical support for their design.
