Electrical manipulation of electromagnetic properties of FeGa/[Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3]0.68–[PbTiO3]0.32(011) multiferroic heterostructures

2017
Ferromagnetic thin films of FeGa fabricated onto [Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3]0.68–[PbTiO3]0.32 piezoelectric substrates to form multiferroic heterostructures were studied with the focus on the electrical tuning of electromagnetic properties of the materials. The resonance frequency was tunable by varying the applied voltage in a quite broad range from 1.89 to 7.56 GHz. The frequency linewidth Δf and the maximum imaginary permeability were also tailored electrically in a rather wide range with Δf being changed from 0.94 to 2.2 GHz and μ″ max from 127 to 330. The results of electrical tunable electromagnetic properties are discussed in details based on the framework of the magnetoelectric effect, which was confirmed by static magnetization characterization.
