Designing of hollow ZSM-5 with controlled mesopore sizes to boost gasoline production from syngas

2019
Hollow mesoporous ZSM-5 zeolite is synthesized through a method of alkaline treatment with the TPAOH/NaOH mixed solution. The amount and pore size distribution of mesopores in the shell of hollow zeolite can be exactly controlled by tuning the concentration of Na+ cations in the alkaline solution. The hollow mesoporous zeolite is applied to the selective conversion of syngas into aromatics-rich gasoline. The new-created mesopores play crucial roles in enhancing the C5-11 selectivity and suppressing the C2-4 selectivity by accelerating the mass transport, avoiding the repeated hydrocracking in the small microporous channel of ZSM-5 zeolite. Besides, the hollow mesoporous zeolite exhibits excellent catalytic stability, displaying a potential pathway for further industrial applications.
