Determinación de métodos para producción de mortiño (Vaccinium floribundum Kunth), con fines de propagación y producción comercial

The mortino (Vaccinium floribundum Kunth) is a bush native from the Ecuadorian highlands which has not been cultivated for commercial purposes. In the past, this product was an important food in Ecuador, but recently its consumption has decreased and the plant as well has begun to disappear. This plant has not been domesticated because a method to propagate the mortinos has not been developed. Therefore, experiments have been made with three possible techniques. The first one uses cuttings that were 25 cm. long, asexual reproduction, in which mortino cuttings are buried in order to get a new plant.
