Necessary conditions for the formation of self-sustained discharge in TEA CO2 lasers

The laser discharge parameters-threshold and operating values of the electric field, minimum preionisation electron density and minimum acceptable electrode spacing-were calculated for 14 various ratios of CO2:N2:He in the gas mixture. The interpolation formulae derived, consistent with experimental data, enable an easy evaluation of the parameters for any gas mixture composition.
