Revisión documental de uso de los aceites esenciales obtenidos de Lippia alba (Verbenaceae), como alternativa antibacteriana y antifúngica

espanolLos antibioticos, son compuestos quimicos que se utilizan para erradicar algunos microorganismos patogenos, sin embargo segun informes de la OMS, se ha desarrollado resistencia a los antibioticos por parte de algunos microorganismos de importancia clinica; lo cual ha limitado las opciones de tratamiento por parte de los profesionales de la salud a los pacientes. Por lo anterior, se ha visto la necesidad de buscar terapias alternativas como el uso de AE (Aceites Esenciales) de plantas aromaticas como una biosolucion a los tratamientos convencionales con muy buenos resultados.Los AE, obtenidos por hidrodestilacion de la planta Lippia alba, la cual esta distribuida ampliamente en Latinoamerica han presentado resultados promisorios por la gran variedad de compuestos volatiles como citral, carvona, mirceno entre los mas abundantes y otros 30 compuestos aproximadamente; la variacion en la concentracion de los compuestos depende de diversos factores fenotipicos y genotipicos, asi como ambientales; diferentes investigaciones han demostrado como la extraccion del aceite de las hojas y su uso tanto in vivo como in vitro han presentado actividad bactericida, bacteriostatica, antifungica, antiprotozoal, antitumoral, como sedante para el transporte de animales, como promotor de crecimiento animal, entre otros; esta revision documental muestra algunas investigaciones realizadas con el aceite esencial de L. alba y los resultados obtenidos en las mismas. EnglishAntibiotics are chemical compounds that are used to eradicate some pathogenic microorganisms, however, according to WHO reports, some microorganisms of clinical importance; which has limited the options of treatment have developed resistance to antibiotics by the health professionals to the patients. Therefore, it has been necessary to seek alternative therapies such as the use of essential oils of aromatic plants as a biosolution to conventional treatments with very good results. The essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation of the Lippia alba plant, which is widely distributed in Latin America, have presented promising results due to the great variety of volatile compounds such as citral, carvone, myrcenene, among the most abundant and about 30 other compounds; The variation in the concentration of the compounds depends on several phenotypic and genotypic as well as environmental factors. Different investigations have demonstrated how the extraction of the oil from the leaves and their use both in vivo and in vitro have shown bactericidal, bacteriostatic, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antitumor activity, as a sedative for the transport of animals, as an animal growth promoter, among others. This documentary review shows some investigations with the essential oil of and the results obtained in them.
