Reciprocity and Relationship: Urban Teacher Preparation Through Partnership

The authors describe a partnership model initiated between the social studies licensure program of a research-intensive university and a struggling, diverse urban high school. The authors demonstrate how partnership, facilitated by a partnership liaison located in the space between campus- and school-based teacher preparation, has catalyzed change in multiple aspects of the teacher preparation process. The authors also emphasize the importance of inter-institution reciprocity and relationship in bettering schools and teacher preparation for diverse urban classrooms.
