Forest‐Entomological Research in Israel1

Summary This review on forest-entomological research in Israel is dedicated to the memory of the late Prof. F. S. Bodenheimer. It deals with 137 research works published between 1912 and 1969 and refers to insects and mites of natural and planted forests. The first paragraph reviews taxonomic studies of various groups, mainly Lepidoptera, Rhynchota and Coleoptera. The second part describes research on the entomofauna of forest trees such as oak, pine, eucalypt, poplar, cypress, etc. The last paragraph is devoted to forests pests and their control, with special emphasis on Thaumetopoea wilkinsoni Tams, Matsucoccus josephi Bodenh. et Harpaz, Evetria buoliana Schiff., Phoracantha semipunctata F. and Galerucella (= Pyrrhalta) luteola Muell. Zusammenfassung Aus Anlas des 10. Jahrestages des Todes von Prof. Dr. F. S. Bodenheimer wird eine Ubersicht uber die forstentomologische Forschung in Israel gegeben. Im 1. Teil werden taxonomische Studien, im 2. Teil faunistische und im 3. Teil forstentomologische Arbeiten unter besonderer Berucksichtigung von Thaumetopoea wilkinsoni Tams, Matsucoccus josephi Bodenh. und Harpaz, Evetria buoliana Schiff., Phoracantha semipunctata F. und Galerucella (= Pyrrhalta) luteola Muell. behandelt. In einer Literaturubersicht werden 137 Verorfentlichungen (von 1912 bis 1969 erschienen) in Israel uber wirtschaftlich schadliche Milben und Insekten zusammengestellt.
